Designing small shops can be an exciting challenge. In this blog post, we'll provide you with tips and tricks to make your shop efficient and stylish. Are you ready?

  1. Optimise space
  2. Highlight your products
  3. Versatile furniture
  4. The right lighting and colours
  5. Intelligent zoning

1.  Optimise space

The first thing you need to know when designing small shops is how to maximise limited space to achieve a more efficient and comfortable layout.

We recommend that you first plan and identify the key areas of the shop. You should know your store and the possibilities it offers you very well. Also, you should use an efficient storage system, which you should keep organised to make it a useful space.

It is very important that you design a layout that facilitates customer circulation. We advise you to assign a specific function to each of these spaces in your small shop.

These space optimisation tips are advice that we at Cerdá have applied in all our SuperMoments shops. These tips have helped us to create a different environment where our products attract attention and where the shopping experience is unique.

2. Highlight your products

After knowing what spaces are available and how you want to use them, the next tip we give you for the design of small shops is to keep it simple and minimalist to avoid the feeling of being in a space that is too crowded and overwhelming and, on the contrary, to generate an environment of spaciousness and order.

With regard to the organisation of products, these should be the protagonists and attract attention, such as our licensed products, for example. From
backpacks, trainers, slippers, T-shirts and many more products of the characters of the moment are waiting for you to stand out in your business.

3.Versatile furniture

The use of versatile furniture is an excellent option in the design of a small shop, as it allows you to make better use of the space and adapt it to different needs. It can also help you to highlight your products by arranging them in a way that is attractive to the public.

Modular shelves, furniture with more than one function, wheels on furniture, walls with panels that can be adjusted and moved according to the needs of the shop, folding tables, movable mirrors, etc. These are some of the furniture ideas that will help to make a good design of a small shop.

From Cerdá and from our Retail Lab,

we offer display solutions so that you can display your products in your shop in a simple and effective way, in order to get the most out of the space in your business.

4. The right lighting and colours

Lighting and colours can make a small space big, so they play a very important role in the design of any small shop. They can make a space more welcoming or more attractive to the public.

If the shop faces outside, it is necessary to let natural light in so that it feels like you are in a much larger and more pleasant space. Another option, if you are not lucky enough, is to use more general and uniform lighting to avoid creating shadowy spaces, to which we can add focused lighting in specific areas to highlight products. Also consider using dimmable lights so that you can adjust their intensity to create different atmospheres.

If you are not sure what colour palettes you can use in the design of a small shop, Cerdá recommends that you consult a specialist.

5. Intelligent zoning

How can you divide the space into functional areas for a better organisation and shopping experience?

With our experience we are going to recommend you some ways to organise a small shop once you have all the interior design done:

1. The entrance is the calling card of any shop, it should be welcoming and attractive. Putting small displays near the entrance can help you to catch your customer's attention.

2. You should have an area which we will call the "main display area" in the centre of the shop where the main or most popular products are usually located. We use modular shelving or display cases to highlight these featured products.

3. The aisles through which your customers will walk should be as wide as possible for them to move comfortably. They should not be blocked with excessive merchandise or furniture.

4. If you sell products that customers have to try on, such as make-up, clothes or accessories, it would be good to have a trial area where customers can try on the products they choose.

5. Two other areas to take into account would be: the storage area, necessary to keep all the stock, and the promotions area, where you would show all the products with special discounts.

6.  The checkout area should be visible and accessible with enough space to queue without obstructing other customers.

In short, small shop design is something that combines creativity with functionality and space optimisation so that you can give your customers a good shopping experience.

Every detail counts, and at Cerdá we know that, which is why we believe that design is a great tool for turning small spaces into memorable shopping destinations.
