We are thrilled to share with you news that fills our hearts with joy! 🎉 In a joint effort to improve the lives of brave children facing chemotherapy, we have teamed up with the Juegaterapia Foundation to produce their adorable furry backpacks 🎒
1. Juegaterapia Foundation
The Juegaterapia Foundation, founded by Mónica Esteban, aims to bring joy and distraction to hospitalised children through donations of consoles, tablets and video games. After the positive experience of giving a Play Station to a child undergoing chemotherapy treatment, the founder and her team work daily to collect these devices and distribute them to paediatric areas in various hospitals.
In addition to electronic donations, Juegaterapia transforms hospital rooftops into beautiful play spaces, building gardens in places such as Hospital La Paz, Hospital 12 de Octubre, Hospital La Fe de Valencia, and raising funds for future projects.
The foundation recognises the importance of play in the lives of hospitalised children, providing an escape and connection to the outside world. Video games, tablets and the creation of hospital gardens become fundamental means of providing a positive and stimulating environment, helping children to face the hospital experience with a smile on their face. Juegaterapia's mission is to extend this help to more children in hospital, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to play and forget, if only for a moment, their situation.
2. About the project
The backpacks are an initiative of Juegaterapia, a foundation that emerged in 2010 when Monica decided to give the console that her son was no longer using to a co-worker whose friend had her son undergoing chemotherapy treatment. When she was told that she had been playing with her roommate in the hospital, Monica decided to put up a sign in the office where she worked that read: "I exchange console for donuts". This initiative was warmly welcomed by her colleagues and from this idea came what is now the Juegaterapia foundation.
It has only recently become clear that their slogan "Playing chemo flies by" is more than just a slogan, as a recent study has shown that it is real, that playing also cures.
The backpacks are a product that we produce from Cerdá so that with their sale, the foundation can continue to implement projects for children with cancer. Juegaterapia contacted us to produce the first run of the backpacks and when we learned about their project we decided to assume the cost and in this way collaborate with Juegaterapia's cause of humanising hospitals.
Some of the projects that Juegaterapia has set up are the creation of gardens so that children can play outdoors during their treatment; the creation of cinema rooms in hospitals, transforming the pain unit into a colour unit or the smiling corridor here at the Valencia hospital. In short, for Cerdá taking on the cost of the production of the solidarity backpacks is a unique and very special opportunity to continue creating with Juegaterapia Life's Little Moments, the raison d'être of our company.
